Polk MM651 vs J&M vs Rokker vs Other "High End" Speakers

Just a quick update regarding the Polk Audio mm651 speakers. There are numerous reports of them going back due to tweeter stalks and the glue that holds them in place. They are falling apart over a shorter period of time than most would like. Polk has still not addressed or admitted this, so be careful when considering polk audio speakers.
Im on my 3rd set in 2 years and contacted POlk Customer Service a week ago and have yet to hear back from them.

It's funny reading component reviews from 3 years ago. FWIW, I too had the MM651's behind a RF PBR300x2 and loved them. Many people were running them at the time. After a couple of months one started buzzing. It turned out to be the tweeter coming into contact with the speaker grill because the stalk that supports the tweeter had shifted. Polk exchanged them under warranty. The second set did the same thing to an even greater degree. By this time Infinity Kappa 62.11s were in production and had received favorable reviews so I tried a set in the fairing. I also did added lowers at the same time and moved the Polks to them. I could hear both at the same time. The 62.11s's are at least as good as the Polks. I replaced the lower speakers with them. Don't get me wrong, the Polks rocked and not everyone has suffered stalk failure. If I were to upgrade my factory speakers today I'd for sure start with the Infinity's. There's a lot of info in the audio section. Google Polk MM651 stalk failure and several forum threads show up.

I have a set of mm651 on my bike,, still working good. Not happy with the fm reception with the soundstream amp , buts thats another topic. Could it be on the stalks that the polyfill is holding in heat? Just asking. I googled Polk tweeter failures and the ones that shown are in this forum. I didnt use polyfill in my batwing because I didnt trust it to get wet and not dry out.

Agreed, replaced my Polks with the Kappa's, then replaced one set of Kappa's with the BT 7.1's. Curse you Nutz, this is all your fault lol
