Thanks for all the feedback. I will assume from the replys that a different fender would be required. Maybe it will just have to be good enough the way it is. I might just have to check out the aux light suggested by Frog13. I want more light a little higher, I am all about function before form.

If you have to get a different fender I would go with the CVO setup.

If you're about function before form, you can buy one of these Geezer Glides:+). It has plenty of rear lights(front too).

I like the look of the SG rear end. I wish I could replace my EG lights for SG lights.

[QUOTE=frog13;9543724]Have you looked at this?
Center-Mount Auxiliary Running & Brake Light

This is the light I plan on getting this spring, along with possible the lower 3 light conversation kit.

The HD site has the CVO fender you can buy for $999

????

The only time I even pay attention to the brake light is when I'm washing the rear fender.

I have considered doing a swap for an 09 fender with the taillight for more visibility. Also thought about doing the tri-bar swap. But as short as some of the stock tri-bars seem to last I really don't wanna shell out that money for a short lived light. I'd like to see Custom Dynamics come out with a brighter aftermarket replacement for the tri-bar.

Is there any reason why you couldn't do both auxiliary lights, the 3 bar and the one above the plate? The way I see it is the more brake lights you have, the better the chance the person behind will realize what you are doing. Won't ruin the looks of the fender either. Just slap me up side the head if this is a rediculus question.

I love the super clean look of the 2010-current set-up with no tail light, but everyone has their own taste. If you want brighter, I would say save some money and just get the Bright *** Lights conversion (inco. bulb to LED's). They're awesome.

There is a reason for the third brake light on cars. Simply put, it is a stand alone light that will hopfully get the attention of the totally distracted driver that is following you way to closely anyway. Having been rearended on a motorcycle back in 1969, I think about these things, just about every morning when I painfully get out of bed. That said, I have been riding long enough that I don't care about "cool" anymore, saftey, so I can enjoy at least another 10 years or so of riding is of the utmost importance to me. Thanks for all the comments, I do enjoy reading them and there have been some very good ideas introduced. Mike
