I think HD standard color painted parts are actually a pretty good deal compared to having parts painted to match. I'm looking for a set of hard bags for my RKC and it's more expensive or about the same to get a set of used bags and have them painted properly as it is just to order a set of new bags the exact color of my bike from Moco.

+1 on the above. Lots of guys want to avoid paying HD's price for a color-matched tour pak so they buy a tour pak off ebay/craig's list, with the idea of having the TP painted to match by a local shop. Oftentimes, the cost savings is neglible >$100.

Personally, I'd have the hard bags and side covers two-toned; RK's with color-matched side covers and bags look GREAT.

Good luck with your project.

Ask your dealer who does their paint. You know the dealer doesnt do it.

Not to side track the OP's topic, but I see on the Moco's website they have numbered paint sets. Do you get the tank, and bags new without a core, and I assume they don't give you the fairing?
They have some pretty slick sh*t for about $1600.
Not serious enough to ask a dealer, but curious enough to ask here....
Thanks.

Default Saddlebag Paint Cost

This thread is a few months old but I thought I would send a reply in case others are looking. I got a 2 inch hair line scratch in one of my vivid black bags that is just a bit too deep to buff out. The Harley Dealer here in Michigan quoted $220 to have it completely repainted including the pinstripping. It's extra if you don't pull off all the hardware yourself.

I just paid $700 for bags and lids to be painted. Shop around a little, but I wouldn't be a guinea pig anywhere.

You should start a new thread..."Any good painters in or around Delaware"...
Try to learn from guys in your area who have been there, done that...
you could spend all kinds of time searching when your answer is right here...
