True dat, I try to tell folks about the fulmer carbon fiber, but they always go with HCI or other "popular" names, the fulmer is lighter with a smaller profile than all the others.

I have been looking at the Z1R nomad. Smaller profile than most, but with some padding. Not expensive either.

Wear a hoodie under your normal riding jacket, or a scarf. It'll balance out the top heavy look of your head. Or go novelty... I've havent figured this one out yet either.

I just ordered a Daytona skull cap. They claim to be the lost profile on the market that is dot approved. I ordered it from helmets r us. I'll kick back on Tuesday when it comes in to let you guys know how unrealistic thier claim is or isn't.

I actually do look fantastic in a DOT helmet. I've got something like 4 different DOT half helmets, and every one of them makes me look handsomely heroic (but not in a fruity way).

I really feel sorry for you guys that get the mushroom head syndrome. I'm not gloating or anything, just saying, I'm glad it's not me.

Come to think of it, I can't say I've ever noticed anyone else's helmet anyway.

carry on

As far as getting a smaller helmet and shrinking the inside. Good idea, never thought to do that. I just bought a Headtrip, but when I'm in NY i'll be pushing it cause it's not labelled as a DOT. At least without some modifications. You'r post is a day late, or I'd be trying it out, and saving a chunk of change.

Take a look at the Outlaw Ultra Low Profile 1/2 helmet from www.leatherup.com I own 2 of them. They are as close to a novelty helmet as you can get. I was stopped at a road block here in the mtns. of north Ga. The cop pointed at my helmet & said "thats not a DOT helmet" I took it off & showed it to him. He handed it back & said "amazing" They run very small though, dont believe the size chart. Order at least 1 size larger than you would normally wear.

I have no experience with the Fulmer helmet. I bought the ultra-slim outlaw helmet.

http://www.leatherup.com/p/Outlaw-He...ml#sizingchart

The above helmet was the smallest DOT approved half-helmet I could find. It is only slightly bigger than my 10-year old, non-DOT, beanie helmet.

I have also bought, within the last two months, two other "small" DOT approved half-helmets. I bought the Rodia Beanie from Dennis Kirk and a Vega XTS. The Outlaw helmet was noticeably smaller than the other two and really didn't give a mushroom head look.

Just an FYI......
