TJ Products lowering kit
Hi,
I have a question for anyone using a TJ Products lowering kit on their bike.
I just pulled my saddlebags off and noticed that the rear pulley bolts are actually
rubbing on the TJ bracket when I spin the wheel.
Bike is a '07 RK Classic.
Has anyone else run into this ??
Thanks in advance.

RE: TJ Products lowering kit
Jake, can you provide any ride specific details with the lowering kit? I too need to drop my RKC a bit due to a new "wider" seat and have been looking at options.
My stealer said the kits cause other problems and recommended against a kit vs. new shorter shocks. 90% of my riding is two up, 400 pounds combined. I need a lower bike that still has respectable riding maners.
I will also stay tuned for your rubbing issues as well.

RE: TJ Products lowering kit
I really did my homework on a lowering kit.
The TJ-Products kit came recommended highly on the web forums
and from my local independent shops.
The bike looks great 1 inch lower and the ride quality doesn't suffer at all.
The TJ kit doesn't change the shock angle like most kits do.
It just lowers the bottom mounting point.
Anyhow, I just took the kit off until I can figure out what the clearance problem is.
Hopefully, someone has an idea ????

TJ is "ok" if you ride solo - if you ride two up and loaded - I found I had to pump the shocks up so not to have the tire hit the inside of the fender - I ended up taking mine off - the ride was just too firm when two up - the rider does not feel it as much as the passanger - your choice of course -

I made the mistake of trying the TJ kit and the results produced a crooked rear end that made the right rear shock bub the inside of the bag. Gladly removed the kit and went with Progressive 440's in 11.5". Do it right the first time with progressive shocks, the ride is better anyway.

Any reason to chose the 440's over the other progressive models?
Jake - on topic - looks like removing it wasa good idea based on the few responses you have so far.

Hey Bill,
I have a set of standard spring 12" Progressive 440's for sale if you're interested??
Whether you are interested in my set or not, I would DEFINITELY steer clear of the 11.5" model(Progressive tech support will tell you the same thing).
The 12" 440's sit at almost exactly the same height as the 11.5"(the difference is less than 1/4" in actual ride height)& the ride with the 12" is MUCH MUCH better than the 11.5"(I know, I have tried both rather extensively)
