Default Road King hard bag question??

I have an '04 RK Custom with leather bags. The bags are nice but just a tad small for what I need. What HD hard bags will work with no modifications? I tried a set of OEM bags from an '08 SG but the mounting position was way off.

those bags should have fit. you would have to adjust the position of the mount bracket, but no real modification necessary.

X2....those bags should go right on with a little bracket adjustment. My RKC is an '05 and popping hard bags on was a piece of cake....just adjusted the brackets.

Loosen the upper brackets so they will move a little. Set the bags down on the rails, and insert the dzus pins, moving the brackets to where they will line up with the pins. Then tighten down the upper brackets with the bags and pins still in place.

I go back and forth between hard bags and RKC leather bags, it takes just a couple of minutes to adjust the upper brackets.

RWD makes a set of bags that has extra capacity and has a 4" stretch on them.

Exactly what I did, and the fit was spot on.....after that slight adjustment.

Boogaloodude: I've never really taken notice of you King. REALLY CLEAN. You've done a nice job of it.

The consensus is correct. I just put a set of 2010 CVO bags on mine and only had to adjust the mounting brackets to get them to fit.

All touring hard bags from at least 1998 - 2010 should fit all touring model bikes in this range of years.
