Default Driving /Running Light bulb replacement bulbs

One of my bulbs burnt out, and I am wondering if there is a replacement that I can purchase at an auto parts store, rather then the dealer. Also, maybe a better or brighter alternative.

Probably going to replace both, if one went the other is not too far behind.

I would imagine an auto parts would have it. Just take it in and have the counterman cross ref it if needed. I just replaced one of my front turn/running lamps yesterday. I had what I believe was a standard 1157 bulb taillamp/brake lamp and it mounts proper and illuminated the same.

If you have the sealed beam lights? I buy 4" tractor lights at the local farm store. Work great and less than $10 each and rugged.

If your passing lamps have the removeable bulbs, try Autozone....various wattages for around $8 ea. I'm running the brighter ones, somewhere around 50/55w ea. No problems. As I recall they are the 8XX series.

I didn't realize that some bulbs aren't removable. From the front they look like halogen bulbs, similar th the headlight, just smaller.

I will open them up and check it out.

Aux lamps are an 896 bulb at any auto parts store. Actually 881, but the 881 is 25 watt and the 896 is 38 watts. The 896 is brighter.

Depending on the model and year, some passing lamp bulbs are replaceable and some require replacing the lense.

I opened mine up, and I can remove the bulbs. I am going to go with the brighter ones, so I guess the 896 bulbs are what I will need. Off to the auto parts store I go.

You can replace the stock #881 with 50 watt #886 bulbs. I ran the 886 bulbs for years before I switched to a Street Glide. Never has a single issue.

No apologies for reviving a 'thread from the dead' as technology moves on ...

Have anyone explored these?

25 Watt CREE LED Fog Light Bulbs (881)

Lumen Output of about 600-650 lm per bulb.

There seem to be a number of Xenon/LED alternatives on the market now, so I am not punting this particular company/model.

I also see a (881) 27W Halogen Headlight Bulb 3800K Clear that claims 1000 Lumens.

As far as I can find, a STD bulb kicks out 350 lm (lumen). I find mine own STD lights disappointingly yellow. An 886 might kick out 1255 lm but draws a lot more power which city riders will find drains their battery.
