Default Calling All Corbin Owners...Welts Or No Welts?

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on buying a new Corbin Dual Touring Saddle. I have the option for welts or no welts. When speaking to the tech from Corbin, she suggested no welts because she sees more seats coming back with welt problems. Do the welts rub your legs while you're riding? Can anybody else comment on the welt problems?

The "welt" is the piping at the seams of the seat. You can get a Corbin with or without the piping (welt).

Between the wife and I, we've had 8 Corbins. She likes the look of the welt (in contrasting color) and I prefer not having my backside on a welt. Corbin did a great job of making my RGU seat match the tourpack cushion, and many people think it's a HD seat. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/membe...rbin-seat.html

They did do a nice job matching it up. Does that seat have the welt? Does the welt bother you at all when you ride as opposed to not having the welt?

I have welts and have actually worn part off of one by getting on and off I sometimes dragged my boot (bad hip, which is new now by the way). I don't notice the welp when riding however. I say no welts.

If your not going with a different color then no welt. Every piece of extra stuff you can keep off the saddle is better for wear and tear. I have a 21 year old Corbin dual tour and still looks and feels great. Just ordered one for new '12 SG with no welts.

The Corbin tech suggested no welt as well. She also told me that there are two stitching patterns available. The Corbin flames and the "tuck & roll" as she called it, which I believe is a more conservative "lines" type of stitching. Do either pattern make the seat feel/wear any different? What is the general preference? This seat will be going on my red/black Ultra Limited. Hell, I never realized that I would have to be making this many decisions on buying a seat!

Wasn't a choice when I bought my Corbin new about a decade ago! Yes it is wearing, but so is the bike, as both acquire the patina of age. It doesn't cause any problems, although I will now think about it when I next ride.......
