Default Paint activator

Hey guys I've got a quart of black denim paint and the corresponding clear coat. They both say that they need activator 99825-02 my paint guy said that I should get that from harley too unless anybody knows of a substitute. I'm just kind of disappointed that the parts guys had no clue when I ordered the paint. Thanks for any help.

Same thing happened to me several years ago--ordered HD paint from my local dealer's parts counter, waited a week for the paint to arrive only to read the label and discover the activator was required. Ordered the activator from the same parts counter guy and had it in a week.

I'd go with the HD activator; it will take a week (probably) for it to come in once it's ordered.

Considering the cost of the Harley OEM paint..... do you really want to guess about the activator?

Have you ever seen what happens when you mix brands? It can actually be quite entertaining to watch the paint turn to jello in the gun. Not so entertaining to clean out.

Make sure you also have access to the safety gear.... especially the forced air respirator. That paint will cause serious lung problems. I was a painter for 25+ years, and even taking precautions, it has affected my breathing.

I don't know it to be fact , but I would bet that PPG's reactive reducer would be the ticket.

I can't color in a kids menu at big boy. I'm leaving this to somebody with experience and skill.

Same stinking thing happened to me about a month ago. I said screw it and went with ppg paint. Now I'm stuck with a quart of overpriced HD paint.
