Windscreen upgrade which one?
Ok , Ok,
I've read thru many threads on types..
But I'd like an UPDATE on ones people are using...
who's happy with what? especially need help at night... tinted ones
My stock one is getting old, looking for another stock, recurve,extra wide one...etc. etc..
Winter is almost over for most of you, so these threads will go away (i hope)

I'm cheap.
I buy take offs from other riders for $30~$35 ( they pay the "upgrade tax").
I then cut the bottom with a rotozip ( the bottom edge is hidden) cut the keyhole slots a little wider and swaps require a 2 turn loosening of the screw.
depending of which seat i use, i swap windscreen height to match; stock, -1", -2" and -3"
I like the top edge to 'appear' about 40' in front of the bike, this puts the grit and bugs just over my hair ( what's left)
total cost under $100 for the original and 3 modified windscreens
the H-D lexan is really tough, mine took an apple sized rock at 65 that would have broken my face- not all products are created equal
my thoughts on 'recurve';
klockwerks says their design increases downforce at high speed- this would be a GOOD thing- the batwing fairing unloads the front end about 85 mph or so. extra downforce would be welcome ( i ride a lot closer to 70/75 than 85/90 these days*)
but, if the weather is crap I tuck into the windscreen and look through it, a recurve would be distorted in this example
for the same reason I like clear rather than a tint, if the weather is crap at night and I'm tucked into it, i wanna see all i can

2.) MPG riding to LA at speed limit ( 75/70) requires 2 fuel stops, riding at 85 requires a 3rd stop which negates any time gained

I have the 10" Light grey tint freedom shield. It has a slight curved top, but is barely noticeable. It looks similar to stock, but the shield is much thicker and has nice polished edges. It really helps with wind and buffeting. it only runs about $100 and some of the dealers are beginning to carry them now. goto http://www.freedomshield.net. Find the number and call John. He can tell you your closest source. You can even try it and return it if you don't like it.

I have had many windshields, like others. The one I like best is a Clarks clear 14" flat top, very Fugly ! but boy does it work good !! also very good for the passenger.
