Rocker plate re-install help
I am changing my cams and using the stock pushrods, I am at the point of putting the rockers back in. I have already found TDC with the lifters on the base circle but when I place the rocker onto the head prior to bolting down, it does not sit flush because the push rods are high. I don't want to tighten the bolts with the plate loaded like that for fear of bending something.
I'm not sure why it's loaded, could it be the lifters are not bled down?

With both lifters on the base of the cams follow the tightening sequence in the service manual. This will take the slight pump up of the lifters out. DO NOT rotate the engine until the the lifters settle and you can rotate the pushrods with your fingers. Once everything for one cylinder is done and you can rotate that cylinder's pushrods, then you can move to the other cylinder and do the same service manual procedure for the rocker plate install. Again, DO NOT rotate the engine until you can rotate the pushrods with your fingers.
