Will a lowering kit change belt tension???

I was going over the SG getting things ready for riding season.
When I checked the belt tension it had 1/2" of slack.
Manual says it should have 1/4"-5/16" of slack.
It only has 2400 miles on it and only 1400 since the 1,000 mile service.
I installed a Road6Custom lower kit after the 1,000 mile service so I'm wondering if the lowering could cause more slack.
Of course the technician that did the service might not of adjusted the belt tension.
BTW: Anyone know what size socket fits the axle nuts.
Thanks for the help.

I am pretty sure this is what you want ... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Motorcycle-R...9c0365&vxp=mtr
this is much better than a socket as you don't have to remove the muffer....and yes it does change the tension of the belt, but i can't remember if it gets tighter or looser...either way its not much, and it probably just needs adjustment

Belt tension is something that needs to be looked at every once in a while, like oil and tires.
you don't need the tool, just get a feel for what it should be, pull the saddlebag off once in a while may sure it isn't fraying.
the spec for tension changes from year to year model to model- this is not a millimeter crucial spec.
too loose a belt ( lowering kit usually) will cause the belt to "zip" on the primary on deceleration.
