Question True Duals Question

First the details:
- 2003 FLHRCI w/40K mi
- Stock top-end
- installed within the last 5000mi:
-- Cobra True Duals w/ some kind of slipons I got cheap from ACM
-- SE Adj Pushrods
-- SE211 Cams
-- Hydraulic cam chain tensioner/SE Oil pump kit
-- inner cam bearings
-- FuelMoto branded PC III

Now the question.....

Bike runs great, pulls like a tractor and sounds solid. When idling, I put one hand behind each pipe.

The right pipe (front jug) goes:
POP-POP-POP-POP

The left pipe (rear jug) goes
Puff........ Puff....... Puff.......Puff.....

I haven't figured out how to check it while I toodle down the road at 50 MPH yet

Is this a true dual thing due to the longer header off the front? Should I be looking into adjustment on the pushrods on the rear? Could I have a compression issue on the rear jug? Or, am I freaking out about nothing?

I do have an exhaust-leak kinda sound (chirpy), but that was there before I did any of this work and I was really, really careful and thorough when I did the mods.

Thanks folks!

I had TDs for a few years but recently changed to a 2-into-1. I do recall that the two mufflers seemed to sound more alike than with the stock pipe set-up. It seems your bike is running fine, so I suggest you ride on, but keep an eye open for another bike with TDs, so you can talk to the owner and compare notes! Alternatively call in on a local indy for an expert view.

Thanks guys.

There is more than one indy around these parts. I may take it by one (or more) and see what they think. And I like the idea of finding another ture-dual owner and having a chat.

My left and right exhaust sounds slightly different and different pule pressure when I put my hand at the exhaust. That right side/rear jug pipe is so short vs the left side/front jug long pipe, that's prob what is causing it.

The chirping can be a different story. Exhaust mount brakets, loose baffle, small exhaust leak (but if you do not get popping, I think you are ok). Heck, when I go over a bridge or drive next to those concrete barriers, I get chirping, but have always heard that from V&H mufflers, maybe due to reverberation is my guess.

Like others said, keep riding it

Cool......

Yea, I don't know what is up with that chirp/tick (it's like a ticky-chirp, or chirpy-tick) but as I changed from the stock header to the duals, and tried 3 different pairs of mufflers, I noticed a pattern.
- no matter what head pipe or mufflers, that sound was always there
- the louder the pipe/muffler combination, the louder the tick/chirp sound

I got the bike on a trade deal with a local dealer. When I mentioned the tick/chirp sound to one of their wrenches, he said "heck, half of the bikes that come in here sound like that". But the wrenches at this dealer are idiots. I had the bike at a local indy to do the cam work and he just shrugged and said "some kind of exhaust leak" and didn't seem too concerned.

So, ride on and hopefully find some more bikes to listen to as riding season gets going. I can live with that. At least nobody said, "holy crap dude, something seriously wrong! Park that thing NOW!" (haha)

I haven't measured the length of each exhaust but I don't think they are both exactly the same length may have something to do with how they sound. That's not even considering the front jug has more of a direct flow exhaust and the rear jug usually has a fairly radical bend in the header at the head. These factors has to have some affect on how they sound.
