I put the oil temp gauge in last year and notice that it keeps going up and up the longer I ride it. It scares the crap out of me, but I keep thinking that it was always fine when I didn't know... But how hot is too hot?

I always heard that if you **** on the rear cylinder and the **** evaporates before you can smell the burnt stinch, then you need to let the bitch cool off for at least 10 minutes.

harrell42, i installed a harley otg om my 2011 limited where the atg goes. it was near useless until i found a nut that the sending unit probe would srick out from the nut about quarter of inch, the original probe did not stick out any and would not read good and took a long time one that stuck out about a inch would work much better. mine now reads about 15 degrees lower than the oil temp dipstick i have also. dont know which one is correct. roller

What someone needs to invent is a tire pressure monitor front/rear that will fit in that hole and match the other gauges, of all the things that have a tpms harley needs one the most.

But I really doubt that's I'd spend time staring at an oil temp gauge in the dash.

I do have the dipstick with led readout which give s a "pretty good" display of oil level and a very accurate oil temp.

I can reach down hit the button and glance at it at a stop or while riding it I am concerned

Where did you pick up the l.e.d. read out oil temperature gauge? How has it held up?

HD electronic compass 74445-05 is a nice alternative to the air temp gauge.
