Smile Ready to buy a 12 Ultra Classic EG

Getting ready to pull the trigger on a 2012 Ultra Classic EG. I have not been to the dealer in a few months. I cannot remember if a luggage rack is standard on the Ultra Classic EG or not. I was wondering if anyone knew so I can budget for it if not. I do have a call into the dealer but won't hear from them until Tuesday at the earliest.

FLHTK is the " Ultra Limited", comes with the rack.

The FLHTCUI "Ultra Classic" and FLHTC "ElectraGlide Classic" do not

The FLHX is the Streetglide

FLHR is the Road King

FLTR is the Road Glide....

it's alphabet soup ( sometimes an I is added for Injection, from when that was optional)

The premium tour pak rack is great for packing gear, better than the Airwing rack...but the airwing can take an LED run/brake light kit which is nice

and my '53 FLF is FL for 74" motor on a Duo Glide chassis and F for optional foot shift

Thanks MKGuitar. That explains it better. We are debating between the Limited and Ultra Classic. It will on depend on the asking price. Looking at a 2010 Limited or a 2012 Ultra. Going to go to both dealers that have them and see which one will work best with people that have CASH !!!! Cash talks and BS makes me walk. LOL

Limited has 'special" paint, wheels, tour pak rack 103", oil cooler, compression releases, cruise control, ABS, security system, some badges, heated grips and a 12 volt outlet in the tourpak.
Does not have saddlebag guards

*** Thanks, Tinman, forgot the other stuff

Mike
Also has:
LED lit spedo and tach (regular bulbs in the other gauages)
all gauages have Titanium faces

Also does not have:
Front fender expanded rail / bumper (still has the tip light and chrome trim)

The paint was enough to buy the Limited over the Ultra. I wanted ABS and Security so it was 1400 more to get the Limited that I really wanted over the Ultra and I ended up with a bunch more stuff. Good deal for 2010 and 2011 but now they all come with the 103 so the Limited is not as good of a deal as it once was.

And don't forget, it may be a "Limited" but in no way was there limited numbers of them.....

With that all said, I would still buy a new 2012 Limited without a second thought.......

If you go with the Ultra Classic get the ABS option (usually come with security too). May save your life someday.

This is just my opinion, but I would not divulge to the dealer that I was paying cash until AFTER they gave me their best price. Here's why - dealers make money from the financing portion of the bike. Let's say Joe customer negotiates a deal for 10% down and 5.9% interest for 5 years on a 20K bike. The dealer can often get a bank to offer a point or more lower interest rate, and pocket the difference. Joe still pays 5.9.

So if you just ask for their best price, many dealers will assume they can give you a lowball price, then make some of it back on the note or on a trade. Besides, the dealer gets his money either way, from the bank, or from cash. It's no big incentive to him if you pay cash.

Now that all touring models now have 103 cu motor, it comes down to paint and couple options between Ultra Classic & Ultra Limited. Will admit the couple step up options are nice to have, Heated Grips, and electrical upgrades, but I would do the math on this. Good Luck, with your deal.
