Default Need Help Quick May Upgrade to an 07 Ultra

I have an 06 Ultra with 20K on it. WhenI brought it in for service I asked the stealer what kind of deal he could make me on an 07 Ultra. Probably looking at least $3500 more. Is the 07 worth it. I have extended warranty on my 06 that I can use to help offset some costs but I also have a few upgrades on the 06 like Luggage Rack, Grips and Floor Boards, Stage 1, S/E slip Ons and a PCIIIwhich would move with me.

Is the 07 worth the money for the tranny and 96" engine. It would be boine stock as part of the deal for now.

Help I need your input?

Thanks

It doesn't like too bad of a deal when you figure in the 06's depreciation when the 07's came out.If you can take you accessories with you,go for the deal

Bonz, I love my 07 and have had very few problems other than the whining in 5th gear, however even though the extra monies your dealer is requesting is not bad considering the bikes depreciation, you're going to have to start over with the upgrades on your new bike and what will that run you? It's a decision you'll have to make, but I will tell you this I have a friend who has an 05 Ultra and after riding my07 he said he loved it and this spring he will own one. Good luck and God Speed...

I'm no expert by far but if you have 20k miles on your '06, you only need to answer these questions:

Are you happy with the power your bike produces in real world riding conditions (Passing semi's, getting out of the way of cagers, etc...)?
Do you find yourself constantly searching for another gear on the highway?
Is 8 cubic inches and ~400 RPM at 75mph worth $3500+ accessories to you?

If you can honestly answer these questions, you'll have your answer on whether to make the trade. In my opinion, anyway.

If you got the cash and want a New bike, do it, but I dont think you will notice a vast difference in what you have since you have upgraded it already and the new one once it is done the same. Downside, if you want a extended warranty you must buy a new one, they are not switchable from bike to bike, cost and labor to change out parts, cost of 02 sensor eliminaters for the PCIII to work on the 07. Upside, 20K less miles, bigger motor, extra gear, that new bike feeling!

3500 is a cheap upgrade, see what it cost to do the 95" kit on the 88, they will throw in grips, luggage rack, floorboards, if you push...
and if they don't that easy to get on e-bay.

I went thru the same when I traded my 06 for the 07 SG, the cost was about the same 3300...
But it was like getting an engine and tranny upgrade and erasing the milage on it... (or that's how i reasoned it)

Anyway, would not go back, the 07 is great, just make sure the one you get is made after Jan... or it's had the re-map done...

try this, tell them you'll do the trade if they put the upgrades on the 07, to match the ones on the 06, (especially the Power Commander) (sholud have done this myself) see if they bite..

Thanks guys. The thing that's getting to me is my brother n law was in last weekend from NH and we know our HD dealer pretty well. He gets the dealer to lend him a rental bike for the weekend (no change). He said it was a late 06 Ultra but it had the 96" engine and the 6 speed. Bone stock butI had to ride it. It had more pick up and b#lls than my Stage 1 06. And yes I do frequently look for that extra gear.

WellI guessI am sold. I think I may take the plunge. The numbers are supposed to be confirmed this afternoon. The only thing my wife requested was I get the same color bike. I can live with that and they happen to have one on hold for me until we consumate the deal.

If you were to do a big bore kit and a 6 speed on the 06 it probably would cost you more than that. I'd go for it.
