Default Question - 2011 Street Glide with 2009 BUB Headers

I installed 2009 BUB Headers on my 2011 Street Glide and now I can't get the driver side plastic engine cover back on the bike without hitting the exhaust headers. Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do to fix it?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Yeah I had and still have this problem, you can loosen the headers a little to get some clearance but not much. The front of my cover has been warm a few times, you can tell when you take it off.

In order to get the cover on and off, I had to cut the bottom prong really short. I got so tired of not being able to take it on and off, it was worth it for me. You need to pull the cover for the main fuse....

If you choose to cut it down, I used diagonal pliers.

I have a 09 S/G with 09 bub true dual bub 7s.... I had the left side over off & found a burnt spot on the cover..I went through everything contacted bub about the problem... I was told to use the thinner exhaust gasket.. to allow for more clearance... well that wasnt enough.. I had my pipes on for well over a yr before I noticed this so bub didnt want to do anything..yes I knew the cover was close but it seemed alright... I could get my side cover on & off but it was really close.. anyway..i had to come up with my own fix as the bike & pipes were out of warrenty when i notices the small burn mark... remove the mounting bracket the secures the pipe to the starter.... now it has a round hole in it.. make the hole a ovel ( egg shape) so you can move the pipe further forward.. it wont take much.. 1/8 - 1/4 inch or so... this will allow enough movment.. then reinstall everything.. holding the pipe as far forward as possible.. retighten everything.. & use the thin exhaust gasket..it will work...I had to order a new side cover... bub didnt want to help...sorry I didnt take any picts...I did ask on this forum awile back about this in a thread about bub true duals..no one knew anything about it..I knew others would be having this issue...

I had to review this problem for awhile before I came up with this fix... this is the only way i found to move the pipe forward... it will work... to bad my dealer didnt want to get involved or bub.. cause I buy & install my own part thay kept telling me I installed them wrong...I have been wrenching on **** all my life..i believe I can install a set of bolt on pipes... anyway a little modificaion is needed...
