looking to purchase an amp for my 08 ultra. any advantages or disadvantages between the tour pak mounted amp and the fairing mounted amp? not sure what to do here. thanks for any advice

 

i have been researching the same thing, i came to the conclusion fairing amp is better because you dont lose any storage space which is very valuable for trips.

the one i was looking at is the amp that mounts externally on the bottom of the tour pak. im just not sure of the advantages

 

If you are considering the HD amps, IIRC there is a fitment exclusion for the in-fairing amp for your Ultra--probably due to the CB module mounted atop your HK radio--space is tight; of course, you can relocate the module to below the HK.

Unless you plan to make the Tour Pak detachable, I don't see much point in using the in-fairing amp--HD has been putting the amp under the tour pak on CVO Ultras since '06 w/o any issues.

thanks for the info, makes sense about the cb module, never thought about that. no issues with the under the tour pak mount is good info also.
