Anyone experiencing a very hot left side engine while riding? Have a 2011 Ultra and besides the heat from the CAT, I am getting a lot of heat from the left side of the engine down by my leg. Just seems really hot compared to my Road King.

 

comparing to the roadking; I'm guess you are experiencing the increased air flow across the motor from the fairing lowers.

the increased flow is pulling more heat from the motor-- however that adds to your "blow dryer effect"

so it's a good thing- kinda

heavy "loose fit" jeans will help

For me I feel all the heat on my right side back calf.
Where the heat goes might have something to do with the aerodynamics of how the bike is set up. On mine the air seems to rush in around the motor to fill the void behind the big air cleaner.

 

I have an '11 ultra. It will be hotter no question. My wife complains about the left side heat also....most people complain about the right. I have the cat removed and do have heat shields since it comes with them...I bought the Captn Itch crotch cooler and will try it when its riding season. I'll have to remove the factory heat shields in order to make it sit flat, but my buddy has a '10 an he swears by it.

 

The primary seems to be the source in addition to the air flow from the lowers, I think. All I know is my leg gets hot and if I touch the primary, I CAN FEEL IT I am wondering if the SG is same. Need to sit on one and see where my leg is positioned. Still pondering on whether to trade down to the SG.

 

Are you sure your not sitting on the bike backwards?
