I stand 6-1 and weigh in at 215. I run an 8" clearview with the HD tall-boy seat. I like the combo and it works well at interstate speeds as well as local highway running. I feel the recurve at the top of the clearview makes a big difference.

Do you get wind in your face with the 8 inch? I'm 6 foot and wear 32 long jeans and I was thinking about a 9 in When you say you could have went with a 9 in also does that mean a 9 in regular with no curve? or 9 in recurve?

Hello. I only had the 12" stock to compare and measure so when I measured i was guessing low since I hate looking through the windshield. Basically the 8" recurve comes to the just above my chin. So a 9" recurve would have put it between my lip and nose which is the "ideal" position. In your case I wouldnt go with anything less than a 9" being 6ft. oh and negative on the wind in my face. seems like when I put my hand over my head to check the wind is about a inch or 2 above. LRS are great though. You wont be disappointed.

I like the stock seat. I put on a smoked 8 inch Klockwerks cause it looks cool. It does keep the air off you though but a little hard to see through.

referring to your earlier:

SG seat doesn't require any other piece- it's a 1 screw install ( take off- $65)

Brawler seat is by H-D ( used - $95)

cutting windscreens- my point was you can buy cheap take offs from the other guys and cut them to where you want.

that's why I have 4 different heights, total cost under $100.
I swap the height to match the seat

I'm at 6'2"

I agree with Jim get the seat you want and then match the shield to the seat, BTW some dealers are renting seats now so you can test a few before you buy!!

Default Seat first

+ 1 for getting the seat first. A group of us rode to Key West. I ride a stock seat, another had a mustang and a third had a custom seat that he spent $1500 bucks on but at the end of 600 mile days everyone had the same sore a$$. I found that just getting a gel pad and moving it around helps more than anything else. For windshields I prefer Long Ride Shields with the recurve.

Happy Hunting!
