Wrong information or lying you will end up in the same spot with either one.
I hate em both.

As you probably know by now, you don't need to remove the stock air filter cover to see that it's a stage 1 setup. Live and learn. Sell the stuff you don't need and just enjoy the bike. I traded my Ultra last year for a new RKC. As I'm riding away on my new bike, I remember I left my 3 week old Harley Hammock seat on the Ultra. A shiny new Harley Davidson showroom floor has a way of killing a few brain cells.

Many years ago, I found myself between jobs and had to take on a job selling cars. I had that job for two years, absolutely the worst job I ever had. The biggest problem I had with it was that the customers didn't trust me. I had to validate and verify everything I said. I'll never go back to that.

Just saying, not all sales people are bad, but there are so many of them that are bad that the good ones are hard to spot.

Misinformed and lying are two different things. It'd be different if OP was told it was modified when it was really stock.

The same thing happened to me. I never thought of it as a negative though. I was told my bike was stock except for pipes. I emailed Jamie at Fuel Moto a picture of the back of my air filter and he told me I had a stage 1. Bonus!

If the seller tells the dealer the bike is stock, they probably don't check.

No one said they were the same thing. I said you end up in the same spot.
Your giving out misinformation.

Did it have the black plastic part around the inside back of the filter cover? That is the telltale sign that it is stock or not. Fuel Moto should take the parts back if they are new in the box.

Rockrivr. Man, I think you are all spun up when you came out a winner on this one. You got a stage 1 package on a "stock" bike and probably at stock price. Have you talked with Jamie at Fuel Moto and explained what happened? Unless something got all tore up, maybe he will work with you.

In the worst case if Jamie is unable to accept a return, you can put the parts on the forum classifieds section and I am sure you will get back most of your money.

As for the sales rep it sounds like he made an honest mistake. If he knew these extras were on the bike, don't you think he'd bump the price up on you?

Don't discount the fact that a set of slip-ons, a PC III and a big sucker might still mean stock to some folks.
You'd think a guy selling Harley's would be able to tell the difference just by the look of the breather backing plate.
I'd sell the new stuff, if I were you.

What misinformation did I give? I didn't say you don't end up in the same spot.
You're twisting my words.
