I just installed mine 2 days ago.

The backing plate is black and fits in perfectly with the engine.

I got the chrome breather tube extensions.

Kit was easy to install and fit perfectly. Well made. The only think you need is some blue loctite.

I am extremely happy with FuelMoto products.

I also just put on their 4" mufflers and flashed using PowerVision. Love the whole setup!

not disputing that what you got was black. just that the one in the pic is pretty highly polished. like you said, don't matter. i took my 'grey' one and painted it black.

Yeah the one shown in the pictures on the Fuel Moto Website aren't black, they are unpainted billet aluminum.

However, I ordered the Pro Billet Stage I kit in chrome, and received a black billet backing plate. When you order the chrome kit, you get chrome hardware, not a chrome plate. I called them to make sure this was correct and was informed that the only finish they offer the Billet backing plate in is black.

See pics below - This is exactly what you get if you order the Fuel Moto Pro Billet Air Cleaner kit in chrome.

Very solid, well made piece!!!

Steve

Whats the diameter of that filter and how deep is it and is that center hole threaded? I'd want to ditch the football and go with a round cover if I could.

Measure the trim ring in your existing football cover - that's roughly the diameter of the air filter. Center hole is threaded just like your stock set up. Not sure on the final depth, but it's similar to your stock cover as well.

If you have this air filter set up, you can bolt just about any cover you want that has the matching center hole.
