I can't belive how many folks never hit the limiter. I concider my riding style to be fairly mild, and I'll hit the limiter occasionally on my 103 stage 2 build. If your shifting at 3500-4000 your leaving a lot of acceleration on the table. Usually I'm shifting 2500-2800, but if you need to be moving in a hurry, 5500-5700 will get you to speed alot faster.

I've never hit my rev limiter. Just never had the need nor the want to run my bike that hard. I've wanted a Harley ever since I was a little kid, daydreaming while sitting on my step-dads old panhead sitting in the basement. Why, after years of wanting and dreaming, would I want to do anything like that. As others have stated, there is nothing to gain by hitting the limiter, but I, for one, have plenty to loose..........................My dreams. So, ride your bike however you want, make no difference to me. I'll keep riding mine a little on the conservitive side. But, know this...... If you think you are having more fun than I, You are sadly mistaken.

Interesting. I installed a ThunderMax Autotune on a brand new Heritage Classic a few years ago. I was still breaking-in the bike, so I never exceeded 3500 rpms. Ever. The T-Max said I hit the limiter 3 times. Didn't trust it after that.

Don't hit your rev limiter in public, someone will call cycle advocacy and take your bike away.
