No, and why would you, your not making power there, it is a touring bike, not a drag bike, makes no sense...

I have seen many touring harleys that are still making hp at 6000 rpm. I have seen some that are pretty capable drag bikes too. For many it is the challenge of making a bagger fast and quick. Anybody can walk into a suzuki/yamaha/honda etc dealership and buy a fast bike right off the showroom floor but it takes something special to build a 150/150 bagger.

The HD design isn't built for longevity at those RPM's. Harley has made endless attempts at bumping the Rev limits up and they have somewhat successful over the years. The Moto Guzzi V twin engine is air cooled but built to run at 7500-RPMs without a problem. Speedometer photo attached. Totally different V design angle and crank shaft set up. This has a V8 style design with two independent piston rods riding the crankshaft. Harley does not. There's a big difference between 5500 and 7500 on the highway. Who cares though, we buy Harleys because of what they are. If I want to bang the Rev limiter all the time, I would buy a Yamasaki.

Exactly, do you see the engine shaking at idle, it is not a well designed racing engine that is balanced for hi revs, my 1100 stock V Star would have easily beaten my 99 EG, they are designed for low rpm cruising, but as in the case of almost any engines that are mass produced people are going to try to get more performance out of them just like our big heavy slow 45 degree V twins.

Passes at the strip, merging, toll booths, it doesn't hurt.

Not really a correlation but true enough.
