The gearing is pretty short on these bikes anyway.

I have a shift light set at 5300,my hp and tq cross at 5400 then start to drop.my cams are mid range so that is the max power and sweet spot to shift, that is if im racing. At 5300 in 4th gear im doing over 90+,the engine is built for speed and that is how i ride it sometimes, when im just riding around town i never get near the rev limit.but i do hear the rice rockets hit it all the time

They cross at 5252 rpm, no exception. The key is where your hp peak is.

And just maybe that peak happens to be at the rev limiter ......

I've hit 4,000 rpm a few times accelerating on to the freeway. Is that anywhere near the rev limiter?

My commute is 42 miles each way, all expressway except about 2 mile. Just for the hell of it I'm gonna see if I can do it and stay under 3k the entire time. That includes takeoffs, cruising, passing or whatever needs to be done. I'm up for a challenge. Hey I already know I can do WOT and what bumping the rev limiter is like!

Don't put any money on me being successfull but we shall see.

Not his and not yours either. Your shift point is 6,000rpm.

Torque is for starting in 1st gear, after that it's hp, ask any drag racer, road racer, etc.

No need for me to hit the red line,I'm usually cruising at 80Mph and just a notch below 3000Rpm.

Just reading back through the responses. Glad to see I’m not the only one running my bagger wide open. Weather is looking nice on Sunday and I plan to ride with a few of the guys. Gonna be smacking them limiters silly !!
