Hey guys that removed the packing from their baffles. Any popping or backfiring on decel? Also are you running a stock header pipe with or without the cat. I put a set of 4" Big Louies with 2" baffles on my street glide and removed the cat from stock header pipe. Sounds good but I might want it a hair louder. If I remove the packing, I dont want any backfiring.

I got a set of "straight cut" (bologna?) from a forum member with 1.75 inch baffles and I love them. They had no packing initially and oddly enough were loud at idle but quiet at a cruise. Once I got free packing from Rush (awesome customer service), they were much quieter at idle, which I wanted, but louder at a cruise, and they really open up when I get on it, which I also wanted. best slipons I have owned to date because if I want quieter I can pick up a set of 1.5 inch baffles or louder I can pick up some larger baffles.

Forgot - I have the older models with only one baffle mounting bolt. I would avoid these because without any packing, they rattle. Fully packed they are fine. I wanted to drill them and add another bolt near the inlet but Rush advised against this because they said the chrome would peel. The newer ones have two baffle mounting bolts and that is supposed to fix the rattle issue.

I don't have it personally, but I finally got around to asking a neighbor which exhaust he was running and amazed when he told me Rush pipes. I thought he had an expensive set by the way it sounded? Not sure which size but if I were to guess, I'd say 3.5" but it's hard to tell without a ruler.

I ran them for a couple years, thoughts are;
Sound great and are a very good value for money.
Only downside is the fiberglass baffles will need to be repacked, or they start to sound a little raspy at about 10k miles.

Have run the 2" baffle on my old bike, now with this bike I have had the 2 and 2.25 w/o packing.... the 2" give a decent sound with great throttle response. The 2.25 give awesome deep rumble sound with pretty good throttle response, not as jerky when transitioning from coast to accelerating as the 2". Tried the 2.5 on my old bike and didn't like them.. too loud with lousy throttle response..... but everything is relative to the individual that is hearing/ riding.

Default Rush

Always had Rush on my bikes with a 2" baffle and sounded great. Now running the 4" Big Louie with 2 1/2" baffle and heavy breather and tuner on my 09 Street Glide. The Big Louie with the 2 1/2" baffle are much deeper and sound amazing.

I got a set of 3.5" slash ups from a forum member. They have the 2 1/2" baffles and they are the newer model with the duel baffle mount. They match the angle of the bags perfectly!

For now I am still running the stock catted head pipe and air cleaner. I love the sound! I can run stealth if needed but with just a twist of the throttle she has a real nice growl! It sounds great while cruising without drowning out the stereo.
