Might be worth pulling the inspection cover and seeing what the oil in the primary smells like...mine started smelling oh so bad, so I pulled the primary and found 2 of the stator coils had burned. It was still charging but obviously it would not last much longer.

Of course, it could be the regulator. I just suggest checking everything simply because I hate things that don't start!

Thank you all for your help, it was the regulator, less than 2000 miles on the bike, warranty covered it,,,ride safe.
