Wind was the very issue that arose yesterday...

Had several side bursts (blasts!) yesterday with my wife on back. While it did affect the tract of the bike, absolutely nothing was transmitted to the bars. Had we been on my King, I'd have been white knuckled!

Ride what you like, I found another reason that I love my "superior" ride!

All that really matters is that your out enjoyin' yourself!

I put 80,000 miles on my 04 egc and 16000 now on my RGU and the bat wing definetly looks better to me. I put a Clearview shield on and the air deflectors and cut down on the buffeting a bunch. It is not the air flow but the dirty air flow that causes the issue with the RG fairings. fortuneatly it is easy to take care of with a different windshield.

The great thing that we have going with the touring models is choice of fairings and windshields. I found the RGU just fit my riding style and needs. I got my 2011 RGU last April and put over 11,000 miles on it before the road salt and snow hit the roads in November. I have not regretted the decision at all. I keep telling people to rent several models and just ride them. We have all the choices and only the seat of your own pants will decide what you like.

Those are good points. I was also thinking if I'm in collision where I'm pitched over the front, the deceleration from striking the batwing and windshield could also be a benefit. I think my handlebars may be an issue though.

I have put those baffles on my Ultra Limited. They help on some days. They come in contact with the inner faring at the extremes but I know they will not work on Street Glides due to the turn signals.

If your talking about fork wind baffles, we're not. We're talking about Road Glide black ABS baffles that attach inside of the shark nose in front of the gas tank on top and at the bottom, on top of the front crash bars. They just snap on.

Follow the link to the HD page that was posted on the first page. Look at view #2- it shows them installed on the bike.

I do have them and they make about $30 difference. Now they are $35.
They do divert some air coming up from below, so I leave them on. I would imagine that the windshield being used also makes a difference in how well these work.
