Major gas leak... need assistance.

the injector is a "pintle type"
hold your left hand in front of you, palm in.
make a circle with your forefinger and thumb.
with your other forefinger insert from the bottom.
that is what the injector looks like ( kinda)---
if you pull your rt forefinger back an inch, that's what happens when the injector gets electrical pulse from the ECM-
fuel is always at pressure ( in your left palm), the ecm tells the injector to open ( pull the finger back), and fuel can spray, until the finger comes back into position.
it could be as simple as a piece of dirt keeping the pintle from closing all the way- the always at pressure fuel keeps flowing.
( if this is the case alot of gas could end up inside you motor- BAD !!!
pull the sparkplug and see if the inside of the cylinder is wet
other wise it could be bad seal or fuel line.
in any case you need to pull it all and replace the seals and check the injectors for function, could be wear, could be a little dirt.
you should be able to get a good tech to service for you unless you want to jump in.

I plan on replacing the injector and the o-rings. No reason I can't do that. Is there any reason I'd need a tech to look at it. The bike was only running for a moment as I noticed the leak right away and shut it down (maybe 30 seconds). It took me a moment to find exactly where it was leaking but I followed the trail and noticed the manifold was wet, turning on the fuel pump and gas starting leaking out of the bottom of the injector. Do I need to be worried? I'll replace the spark plugs to be safe.

Thanks. Course last night it snowed again here in Michigan. Thought I was going to be able to ride this weekend. Bad injectors and snow says not. I think I'm going to replace both injectors after reading that the brown band injectors are known for having problems.

I am going to change the oil as soon as the weather breaks. We got hit here in Michigan the other night, so I can't ride the bike and warm it up to change the oil right now. Hopefully in another week or two I'll be able to.

The full gauge reads full, and I popped off the gas cap and the gas level is at the top. Therefore if any did leak into the motor and get mixed with the oil it would have to be very little. As in only a few ounces. If an ounce or two got into the oil could it really do that much harm?
