Go ride one, the stock windshield on the SG is worthless. You may hate the fairing, I know I did. Don't spend $20k on a bike you are going to hate by not test riding it. I have had 3 new Harleys in 2 years. I should have bought the RKC the first time around. By the way, whats an FLHTCUI? Sounds like a government program. What happened to calling them Ultra's, Road Kings, Dyna's etc.
What's a KCFLHRC? Whatever happened to name's like Ron?
J/K. FLHTCUI is a fuel injected Ultra Classic. I'm too lazy to type all that. Guess I could say Ultra or True King Of the Road.
Look at your username. That's the pot calling the kettle black! LOL
Add or change anything you want but when you get right down to it your helmet is main culprit. Buffeting that rattles your eyeballs with a helmet on may not even be felt without one. Borrow different styles and see what works for you before wasting money.

You got me there Ron, I just figured the new guy had no idea what the hell an FLHTCUI was, and neither do I. Not sure what my user name has to do with it but it really doesn't matter. Carry on

Your user name uses the secret code! FLHRC= Road King Classic. I know these codes are confusing, and I frequently have to look them up. When people talk about their FDX, FDXL, XLH etc I have to look them up. But that is one way I learn on this forum. When I was new at this I didn't understand that only Electraglides had Ultras so it is all confusing no matter what.
Disregard anything you have read above about "buffeting". Harleys ain't got no "buffeting". Only "buffeting" I know of has to do with some singer down in the Florida Keys or how ya eat lunch on Sundays after church!
So I've been saving for a long time and I'm getting real close to a new 2012 Street Glide! The closer I've been getting to more research I've done, and I came across this thing called Wind buffeting? And furthermore, how its much worse on "bat wing" style bikes than "shark nose." I understand it has to do with cross wind giving sterring input... but how bad is it? Sorry if this topic is old news, its just new to me.
Thanks!
If you buy the SG, or any bike for that matter and take it out for a ride, you will understand what wind buffeting is.
You have had a motorcycle before, haven't you?
After that, you just have to experiment w/what works and what does not work for this thing called wind buffeting.
It is something we(all motorcyclists) all have to go through..
Know what I mean?
Welcome to the forum....But to me a better question would be why does buffeting always happen at the worst time or is there ever a good time for buffeting or is Jimmy Buffet ever going to come out with a new album?????????? :-)
