Yes I ride often in the dark-
I love going up in the mountains here in Ga and NC at night. Go ride the Dragon at night, less people, less LEO's, and feels great in the summertime. Take 276 out of Waynesville, NC to Brevard and return on 215 or the BRP.. If that dont get the blood pumping in the dark, nothing will.

In my younger days yes - not so much anymore. I don’t feel 100% comfortable and I don’t just mean the increased chance of an animal strike. It is decreased depth perception, glare of on-coming headlights and general reduced reaction time by the limited line-of-sight.
I can certainly do it but I would not plan a ride on purpose that involved nighttime riding for any length of time.

I love night riding but it is very dangerous here the deer population has more than tripled. Even though I am aware of that & try & be as carefull as possible I still had a collision with a deer summer before last. At 2:15 AM it is a good think that I wasn't injured any worse than I was, its hard to tell how long I would have been there waiting for help if I was hurt bad. There was no cell signal either.

The LED lights ran me around $430 for the headlight and spots, and made a world of difference with night riding.

there use to be a ride at the end of July on the north side of Chicago called the Midnight Tour, it went around 75 - 100 miles, it ended at a bar on the southwest side out in the middle of nowhere, it was amazing how many bikes would end up in a corn field because they would out drive there lights ( mostly sport bikes and the riders had never rode outside of the city)
