Default Whats the best 6 speed out there?

Just finished my 103 stroker build. One thing is clear. I need a six speed transmission. It just wants one more gear badly!! Any suggestions from those who have had one installed? Positives or negative comments on different brand would be helpful. THANKS!!

I'm not going to say the best out there, but the SE 6 speed gear set I think is as good as any out there, and a lot less $$$

As some members are saying, a Baker may well "be the best out there" but I have had no performance or noise concerns with my Screaming Eagle 6 Speed. It is quiet and very easy to shift and I could not be more pleased with it in my 2001 FLRCI TC 88 however it's performance with your 103 stroker build might be a different matter.

I agree with BRYAN, The BAKER DD6 [ not the OD6 ] I just about got one, but just could not justify the price. The kit is app. $ 2,500, the complete tranny app. $ 3,800. That's just the parts, not including install, if you have to have to have somebody do the work for you. If it was not so expensive, it would be a great upgrade. If you have the cash, the BAKER DD6 is THE **** ! DOG.

I have the SE OD 6 on my 06 Ultra and it works well for me. I like that the first 5 are identical to the stock trans and the 6 is an overdrive.

Pretty much every gearhead I know swears by Baker products. (if you can afford them)

I think they have a drop in replacement for the standard 5. Also like a lot of vendors if you go by their booth at a major show like Sturgis or Laconia they might be running a "special" that you can get for a couple of weeks after the show.

A buddy got 20 percent off the trans he was looking at during Sturgis.

I went with the SE 6 speed gear set in my case, bought and installed complete for less than $1800, I done all the work myself but that's still a pretty good bargin. I don't think anyone hammers on one anymore than I do, with the 3.37 gears and 118hp / 117tq it has held up well no problems at all, the DD6 is the top of the line tranny but I don't think it could have worked any better for me than the SE 6 has.

There again it's like anything else on scooters, things work great for some, not so well for others

Thank you all for the advise. Gonna price out the SE and the BakerDD6. Going with the 3.37 gears either way. You get some great input for projects on this forum!![sm=smiley20.gif]
