Cheeeez, not cheap thats for sure.
I could see the price if it had an HD Emblem on it, but it don't even have that

Here's a "Single" outlet for $20 and Free Shipping

Yeah, those are the ones that I saw. The pricing is absolutely absurd. You can get this for $4.99.

It's all in the packaging. I have been researching this all night and it seems that people are making their own panel mount kits for $30. To me that kills the whole idea of making it yourself if you are spending what it costs to buy one that looks nice. I could take the $5 and very easily tear it apart and repackage it into a tray that fits into the top of the bag. I bet I could get everything assembled and together for about $15. That being said it would probably take me an entire day to do the first one and probably an hour or so if I ever did it again. I could get it in the $5 range if I ordered the stuff from china in bulk but i doubt I could sell 500-1000 units in order to do that. I might as well spend the $35 and call it a day.

That's about what I was thinking, but I don't have anything that I would charge with a cigarette lighter on my bike. A usb will do my phone and my ipad, but I doubt I would ever need to charge that on my bike. I don't really want the extra bulk of the lighter plug. I was thinking I should be able to get the stuff for about $10. I may need to make a trip over to the electronics surplus store to see what I can find, before I shell out.

I messed around for ages trying to come up with a flexible, simple & cheap solution to this. Finally spent $20 on the H-D power socket: plugs straight into the switched auxilliary cable under the seat, and fits into the right side cover just under the edge of the seat (gotta drill, but it's cheaper than a new bag if you screw it up!). I have a dual port USB plug ($10 from Amazon) that slots right in, or I can plug in any cigar-type adapter.

The socket sits about 4 inches from the front of the bag, and the rubber seal in the bag lid allows whatever wire to go in without pinching. I know: it's not an in-bag solution, but I didn't want to have holes in the bag, and it's also handy for things like tyre or airbed pumps without having to open/unpack the bag.

I bought this, throw it in my tool bag and when I need it, I plug it into the battery tender plug, plug in my USB charger which I already had for the truck and then my phone into that. Toss it in the bag and close the lid. Can also use for anything that would normally plug into a lighter socket. Installs in about 20 seconds, uninstalls in the same, no drilling, no disconnect when I want to remove the bags and is easily transferable to your friend's motorcycle if they need it.

Good thread. Im subscribing. I just want a long wire that attaches to battery and a usb that I can lay in saddlebag. I don't need a tray or to drill any mounts. Now where are the cheap 5-10 dollar usb with wire?
