Default Is There A UHF CB Radio Option Available

I was wondering if anyone would know if their is a UHF communcation radio available to replace the standard CB AM communications radio on an Ultra. Over here in Aus CB radio is just about non existant anymore. Would be a good option if it is available.

I would not think so unless you have a license to operate in that frequency.

UHF is the frequency commonly used as comms instead of AM CB in Aus, gives better reception and further distance. Thanks for your post though.

What we have here now is called the FRS Radio System. It stands for "Family Radio System" and is a new (relative to CB) UHF system made available to the general public. They are mostly handheld units running a fraction of a watt to keep communications localized. They are located in the 460 mhz frequency area. There are 14 channels, and 38 privacy codes. It would be REALLY nice if HD offered them in a radio package. Someday maybe.

Happy Holidays.

I think you will find that it's more reliable than CB but it's range is also much shorter, unless you have the GMRS which reguires a license atleast here in the USA.

The two most commonly heard words on a FRS/GMRS radio set up is "Huh?" and "What?". Most of the radios are pure crap, and no better than a kids walkie talkie. All the guys I play paintball with use them, and my crew shows up with our 5 watt motorola GP350's, which are just like the cops use.

You wanna talk about getting a signal out. At work, we have HT750's in the VHF band with a 25 watt repeater at 375' above ground level. You can talk to any other unit just about anywhere in the county, and I can hear the repeater on my scanner about 40 miles away.

Thanks for the replies guys sounds like its gonna be a while "if at all" before we get somethin better than the standard issue then.
But sure would be good if we could get somethin thatat least had some range. Guess its good for ridin with others in a group so long as its not one of our club rides might struggle to get from the back to the front or vise versa.
