It does feel good to get back on the seat. I had TKR in Sept and actually rode my bike to PT at 6 weeks. If you don't push yourself on the bike, you should be fine. As always follow what they tell you to do at PT and you will be done sooner than you think.

I remember the feeling. I tore my ACL, PCL and meniscus. Two surgeries later and 8 weeks of PT is what it too for me to even attempt to try riding.

Congratulations. Just don't try to over do it the first couple of rides. Your knee needs to build back up to being able to withstand holding the weight of the bike. Sometimes we try to be too "bullheaded" and it takes another person that had the surgery to tell you to stop.

My wife had a total knee replacement 5 weeks ago. She doesn't ride but if she did she would be ready. The doctor told her to expect to use a walker for 5 - 6 weeks then go to a cane. She used a walker for 9 days then the cane for a week. She does everything the therapist says and it is paying off. The therapist is our favorite niece and has a PHD in the field and really knows her stuff.

Hey DPete, congrats you are back on two wheels.
Be a little more careful than brave until completely healed.
This is coming from someone who had 7 leg surgeries so far.

Good for you. I bet it felt pretty good being back on the bike. I've been down that road, so I can appreciate the feeling.
