Barely made it home with primary banging like crazy!
Well, I guess I was having too much fun, so it's my turn to break down. Rode about a 1/2 mile today before I could hear the primary start banging from a mile away.
Before I tear into it, I'd like to hear some thoughts in case I get in over my head.
Here's some background ...
> The racket kinda goes away when I pull in the clutch.
> Parked now in my garage in first gear, the belt is hanging very loose.
> 09 Road King Police with just 13K miles on her. I replaced the stock compensator with the SE one myself 9K miles ago, so it could be simple as the nut having come loose?
If this is a main shaft bearing failure, how do I know, and is that something mechanical hack can fix?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

..willing to bet the primary chain is slapping the cover like a pimp dishes out punishment...probably the tensioner let go...the clue is that it stops when you pull in the clutch...let us know what you find...you can't hurt anything by taking off the primary cover....go for it...good luck
