BMW Summer2 pants. Protection, cool in the heat, zip out for shorts when you get to your destination. I have them in black and khaki. Another bonus, quick dry time too. While riding in PA last summer, in tghe middle of that July heat wave (over 100 degrees), we saw a nice cool spot to swim in a river. No one had swim trunks so they went in with their jeans. I just unzipped the bottom half of my summer2 pants and presto. Instant shorts. We used our shirts to dry ourselves and the wind took care of the rest. My pants were dry in 1/2 hour of riding.
