Default What is the REAL deal on the 07 Transmission

I've been thinking about moving to a touring model something in the future so I've been following the threads about possible issues with the 07 transmissions.

When I first saw some of the posts about 07 problems it looked as if everyone was having problems with their transmission..however, once I read through many of the posts I began to realize that there were only a handful of people generating hundreds of posts about this.

Anyway, my big question is this. Is there a major problem with the 07 transmissions or is all this static really just coming from a handful of unhappy or inexperienced Harley buyers? Should I be concerned about buying an 07 touring bike?

Thanks!

IMHO im not shure whazup with the posts(sincerly concerned for those with probs and am watching there post).
Your major concern sould be how to come up with the cash cause you know you want it and you will love it!

My '07 Street Glide has been flawless. The tranny makes NONE of the sounds that some have complained about.

My '07 Street Glide is perfect. Not complaint one from me. And so you know, I have been riding motorcycles since I am 7, I do all my own work, spent 10 years racing motocross building my own engines and doing my own suspension work so I'd say I am a fairly accomplished mechanic.

Yes, and let me add that I'm not trying to down people for posting about their problems.

I was just struck by the fact that at first it looked like hundreds of people here were having problems with their 07s and only after spending a lot of time going through the individual posts did it seem more like a few people were having problems and writing hundreds of posts about it. So, I'm just wondering if this is a major problem with all the 07s.

I think you hit the nail on the head, a couple of guys here just wont let it go and act like it is the end of the world and ALL of the 07s are junk in their mind. My 07 Ultra has been flawless, it definitly runs much better than my 06 Ultra and I am glad I switched. The 96 inch 6 speed combo runs different than the 88s, maybe some people have a hard time adjusting.I personally believe the majority of complaints come from lugging the motor and not staying in the powerband. The ones that truely have problems I am sure will be fixed under warranty so I really dont know why it is such a big deal. Let the flames begin.

The real deal on mine is.....

...flawless!

stock pipes need attention, as they aren't quite the sound I want.

it runs a tad warm in 100+ Looziana heat and humidity

the speakers let me crank Lynard Skynard's "Freebird" to the point that I have to turn it down...

I have to wonder too. I've only test ridden an 07. A Street Glide. It ran like a Swiss Watch. Some of the posts I've read "At 2200 rpm it made this noise" So are we accelerating past 2200 rpm, or are we going down the road at 45 or 50 mph in 5th? If so then YES, you are lugging it. Of course it's going to rattle, or something. Absolutely keep the R's above 2500 (70 in 6th aprox). Drop a gear if you need to blow by someone or pull a grade. Run it up to 5500 once in awhile, it won't hurt it. Blow the cobwebs out.

take a look at the polls..........it's about 30% that have nosie, whether 5th gear whine or clatter. It might be just earlier 07 models also?????????

I have never experinced the dreaded can of rocks clatter, I do have some whine 5th gear, but it is slight. The 4.10 gears in the rear end of my Plymouth Barracuda make more noise than 5th gear on my 07 Ultra.
