Default I hate it when this happens....

I finished up a Brembo front brake conversion on my 2007 FLHRS this weekend. As I was buttoning up, I noticed a small spring on my workbench that is about 3/8 inch long and about 1/4 inch wide. I checked my parts manual to see if it came out of my headlight assembly but I can't find that part listed. I don't have a parts manual that features the Brembo front master cylinder. I had a difficult time bleeding that sucker and am wondering if that small spring is supposed to be somewhere inside the MC. Does anyone have any ideas? I hate to have parts left over!

What does your headlight assembly have to do with your Brembo brakes?

I'm guessing he had the headlight out to gain access for routing a new brake line.

Yes, I had to remove headlight & nacelle to route new brake line. Thanks Uncle Larry for the link. The only spring I see in the diagram is much larger than the one I found on my work bench.

Did you have your throttle apart? There's a little spring for the throttle lock, that one can get away if you're not careful.

I did the Brembo conversion on my bike a little over a year ago. Installed taller bars this winter and changed out the brake lines. Bleeding the brakes took about 15 minutes with a Mity-vac. Really good tool to have in your toolbox.

No, I didn't have the throttle apart, but it looks like that spring. I put speedbleeders on the calipers but it was the master cylinder that gave me fits. I found out later what bench bleeding means and that is what I should have done. After the MC started working it only took me a few minutes to bleed the system.

I am about to do this exact conversion on my 06. Please help me understand what you mean by bench bleeding.

Bench bleeding means to bleed the master cylinder before you install it on the bike. So that you force all the air out of it before you install it it and not into your brake system.
