Joining in the choir, but I have the vented lowers on mine as well, and didn't take them off all last year. Never had an overheating problem. Probably won't ever do speakers though, I upgraded the fairing with an AMP and speakers and get plenty of sound from those. I like the glove boxes.

I read someone takes off the whole door in the summer? What's involved with doing that?

Its interesting to see such response on the topic. Lowers and windshield are the only mods I've done to my SG. I wanted the lowers for cold weather and long travel, but I wasn't in any hurry. My patience paid off with finding a set in the "for sale" section for nearly nothing. I'm a diehard fan of the SG clean minimalist cruiser style and I personally think the lowers help that look.

I also like the looks of lowers on Road Kings

i'm one of those. i live in la. it gets hotter than snot here in the summer so for about 6 months out of the year i take off the doors. to do so, all you have to do is to remove the top caps. once the tops are off there is 3 or 4 torx screws that hold the glove box on. take those off, take off the nylok nut at the pivot point, and the door comes right off.

I just purchased mine about 3 weeks ago for my SG. I ordered the HD fairing in primer and had inner and outer painted to match the bike. I love them for the look, wind break, and extra storage.

My bike is at the Painters, with that said, I'm painting the insides of the lowers as well as the outsides.

It depends on the year of the Road Glide. 09 and earler have to use a specific lower, non-vented I believe. 10 and later use the same part number as any other touring bike. That, I believe, was one of the reasons they adjusted the front fairing in 2010. My lowers are the same p/n for all the batwings as well.

To the OP, do it. I like mine a lot. I run the Boom! speakers in them.

I bought mine for the sole purpose of adding . I didn't know how much comfort they add to the ride. Got them factory painted, 20% off, no tax and free shipping They are never coming off.

I am looking to buy the lower fairings. I'm finding some websites offering them for $539:
http://www.lshd1.com/servlet/Detail?no=880519
Is this legit?
