There's a Youtube video of some Dude that modified his jack to come down slower, but I don't care for it. I say make sure the jiffy stand is down, step down firm on the lever, hold the handle bar grip, and let it down. You'll get used to it, it's all good.

My jack from the op has the twist valve and is fairly easy to feather down slowly.

I like that work stand. Looks like you can easily get a drain pan in there. I've been using 4x4 blocks. I am definately going to make one. thanks for the pics.
