Bike Accident This Morning

Done differently? I can't say that.
I know that in the future I am going to give plenty of following distance leading up to those park & ride on-ramps from now on.
Also, I have learned that my rear brakes are a whole lot easier to lock up when it is in the 40's outside than in the 70's when I did my emergency stop practice.

I am glad you are ok. But you have learned nothing fom going over handlebars. You learned that you will not tailgate when coming up to merges??? I think over all you need to stop tailgating. I see people on bikes all the time following way to close. It was rush hour obviously and you were rushing. Glad you are ok

Anyways, just glad the OP is ok. Like I said, I've been there and it took a while to get over being paranoid.

I don't like when some people act all holier than thou, and act like they are so great they could never have an accident. Fortunately, I have never had an accident. Some of that is skill and caution, but some of that is luck. I always try to have a good following distance, but sometimes, you can't avoid compromising positions.
I have posted before on the greater difficulty I had learning to avoid locked brakes on my FLHTCUI, than my Vulcan 750. I think everyone should take the Skilled Rider Course and practice panic stops. But I know there is always the possibility, I could not avoid an accident.

Glad to hear you are ok. A few years back I had a similar accident. Head hit pavement and knocked me out for a few seconds. When came to, ambulance was already there. Long story short, shook it off and rode the bike home with torn shirt, blood on me and all over bike windshield. Pulled into drive wife came out and when she saw me her knees buckled. Still have not lived that down!! Hope you get over your scrapes soon. I know the flesh heals fairly quickly but the image lingers.
