Default On a scale of 1-10, how hard is a complete exhaust swap on a 2012 FLHX?

After thinking about it and looking everything over, and with the help of my friend the sport bike races, I've decided to do the exhaust install. How hard is it....?

With 10 being the hardest, I would rate changing exhaust about a 2

The most difficult part is making sure the head pipes are seated properly so that you don't have exhaust leaks or cause the exhaust gaskets to restrict the exhaust flow.

LOL! Well that just depends on YOUR ability doesnt it? For me, somethings might be a 2 but for you a 10, or vice versa. Seems like every time I try to do anything for the first time, I later find out how I did it wrong or could have done it better or faster. Experience is the BEST teacher. Good luck on your swap out. Now if I can just get this thingee back in there with that other thingee......

I would rate it at about a "Twelve Pack" ... of course that's just me ... your results may vary! Actually it's not a tough job ... just take your time and use some common sense ... if you run into a problem, think it through ... you'll be fine!

For most it would be very easy a 2 or 3. Requires basic tools, its easier if you have a helper to hold the pipes up in place when seating the headpipes and dont tighten everything up until it is all fitted on the bike.

Timely post! I just received my 2-2 Big Radius pipes and wondered about the same thing. As another source of info, I found this video on youtube, It shows a true dual install of bub headpipes and rinehart slipons.

Swapping the exhaust is comparable to the ability to actually ride a motorcycle.
