As I mentioned on another thread I screwed around with different lengths, oils, oil levels,,,,
I finally tried a pair of the new MOCO's with the one side adjustment, very pleased with these. It kept a low stance compared to the 13" but a much better ride. http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...7&default=none

The Progressive 940 has me interested, $500 for the pair is an OUCH. I have more time to research but appreciate the comments. Thanks

These shocks came stock on my 2011 CVO SG. I have them adjusted pretty good for 2 up riding and after 3300 miles they seem to be doing a fine job. I can't see spending 500-700 to upgrade them for a small level of improvement.

I have the Ricors on my 05 Ultra and they are a Huge improvement over stock air shocks, even after I tried the lighter weight oil in the stock shocks.

Since I have the ricors on the 05, I may experiment and put them on the SG to see if that improves the ride any.

I have Howards 3-1 shocks. They have the same lowered stance as the streetglide shocks, but with about the same travel as a standard 13" shock. I couldn't see spending the money for Ohlins and not getting the Ohlins seperated technology with the internal floating piston, so I didn't consider the #2 series.

if it is the same size as the low profile shocks, but has more travel, wouldn't it allow the tire to hit the fender and/or chew up wiring?

I pulled the trigger on the whole HD Premium Suspension front and rear on my 2009 FLTCHU. Can't wait to get her back when the salt is off the roads around here.

I've got these same shocks on my Street Glide (54680-10) . They use to call them Premium Lows and came stock on the Street Glide CVO models. Anyway, compared to stock, they are a huge improvement. I also tried Race Tech and the Progressive 940s...both way to stiff for me. From what i've read, the Ohlins are probably the best, but i think the HD premiums will satisfy most riders. Plus they are much cheaper than the Ohlins, especially if you can get them from one of the 20% off dealers.

FYI the Ohlins #2 are the same price. I know some on here love to bash the emulsion Ohlins however I like mine quite a bit. I wonder if anyone that doesn't like them has ridden them. Yes I have ridden piggyback and rr Ohlins. Yes they are nice. Whether or not they are worth the extra money is a personal thing but I have found almost without exception people will defend to the death a purchase they have made being the best choice possible over any other option. I think those shocks you have linked will be much better than oem. Will they be better than something else? Maybe so.

I selected the #2-3 instead, which are 1¼" taller than the stock SG shocks and are even ¼" taller than the stock 13" EG variety. That eliminates the "slammed" look but I would rather have the suspension travel and extra height to better negotiate the twisties.

I haven't seen much bashing, but there does seem to be a notion among some that somehow the separated variety are superior in the environment we ride our Harleys. I did consider these but couldn't understand how I would be in a situation that would cause the gas and liquid to merge, causing a performance degradation. If I rode the bike off-road or in autocrosses I could see the value of separation, but not riding on paved roads. I've never felt any performance degradation with these after riding on them for 2½ years.

I wonder if anyone that doesn't like them has ridden them.
I wonder if anyone could tell the difference if you mounted each shock type (emulsified and separated) on two otherwise-identical bikes and conducted a blind test.
