Default 6th gear indicator light!

I got to ride my new(used) Street glide today and noticed my sixth gear light not coming on. Anyone had this problem and know what it may be?

clutch slip? it is controlled by the ecm (speed vs rpm) bad speed sensor, previous owner may have changed gearing.could even be the bulb.

Just found a previous post talking about the PCV having something to do with it. Hope that fix's it.

Does your bike have a PCV. If so there is a known firmware issue but also a workaround. You will need a laptop , power commander software from DynoJet's website, and USB cable to access the PCV. Perform the following:
1) In the Power Commander software go to Power Commander Tools/Configure/Harley ECM Data. Uncheck the box next to Diagnostic Port Enabled.
2) Click OK.

3) Click Send Map.
I had the same issue after installing a PCV during a stage 1 upgrade. This fixed my issue.

Sweet Thanks! Going out to try it now. I know nothing about the PCV but I'm reading as much as possible. Does the bike have to be powered on (not started)?

If its a 07... And it isn't the PC... You might ask the previous owner if he changed the compensation sprocket... I put a 30(?) tooth evolution sprocket on my 07 before I found out you lose the 6th gear light after the install.

I keep seeing all these posts about RPM and Gear ratio's, is it not just an indicator showing if your bike is in 6th gear or not? when I tested it I was probably only doing 50mph and shifted all the way up to 6th to see if the light came on.

Does this also affect cruise control ? I just posted a thread with a somewhat similar issue. below is what I had posted:

I have a 2010 Ultra Classic and on a recent trip I had a strange problem with the cruise control. While riding and cruise control set the cruise would just shut off ( green indication to red/orange ) and it would not activate. however, every time after a stop to refuel and back on the road it would work for a random amount of time and mileage. It ranged anywhere from 20 minutes to several hours. Another thing I noticed is that the the sixth gear indicator light on would also go out every time and not return until after a fuel stop. There appears to be a link but I, not sure if one is causing the other. While it was working I could set the cruise in other gears as long as I was going the minimum speed. Anyone have any thoughts ?

The ECM reads the rpm and speed to determine when the indicator comes on.If working properly the light should have come on at 50mph.
