Did you let the clutch out? on mine, the light won't come on until I release the clutch lever.

The clutch has to be out. As mentioned, the PCM looks at engine speed vs. vehicle speed with the clutch engaged to determine if you're in 6th gear or not. If you click up to 6th gear but never release the clutch the light will not come on.

It does not matter how fast you're going, as long as it's in 6th and the clutch is out.
