Default Changing out oil in Rear Shocks

I found a post here on the forum with great directions on changing oil in the rear shocks on my 2010 SG.
That saved me 500+ bucks
Hated those jolts from the rear. My wife hated it reaaly bad.
Bike is smooth now and good one up or two.
I now run 15 psi one up and 24 loaded two up.
No more bottoming!
Bike tracks better all the way around.

Where did you find such a thing, I have been looking for some help with that, everyone I ask says that you can't change or add oil to the touring shocks, even the service manual says to replace if oil comes out... HELP!!!

Awesome, it is a good interim fix to the OEM shocks, I did it on my 06. What brand/wt fluid did you use, how much do you weigh?

Use the "search" at the top of the page.

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...ur-shocks.html

There are a lot of threads about this recently.

I changed out mine to SE Fork Oil 7wt, improved them a lot but still lacking IMO. The stock RGC or SG 12 shocks just dont have enough travel (2") and for lighter riders you cant adjust in any "sag" the shocks are always topped out so the ride is doomed to be harsh. in general air shocks are good for a couple things suspending varying weights due to the easy adjustment of adding or removing air or adjusting ride height, thats why you see them on trucks not performance cars

There are a lot of better replacements out there ranging from Progressive 412 ($200.00), Progressive 440 or 940 ($400-459) HD Premium Touring ($429.00) Terrycable ($500.00) Ohlins 2 or 3 series ($ 550 -1000 depending on the discount)

Just did it on my Limited. Perfect
I have done about 10 bikes now i should have been charging.
I did the fronts as well pushed out the old crap and filled with HD Heavy!
No more front end dive and takes some of the wiggle out of a loaded tour bike.
