Default New Product Idea - Adjustable Windshield Angle Kit - For Aped Bikes

I've been looking far and wide for some kind of kit that could be added to my quick detach windshield that would allow you to slightly change the rest angle of the windshield. I have recently put apes on my bike and if I want the windshield to fit for those long trips, I have to angle my bars back. I don't like the look of the bars when they are angled back. I think all bike owners with apes would like to see a kit like this for their windshields. I'm actually thinking of looking at making something myself unless there is something already out there.

What are your thoughts on something like this? Does something like this already exist?

Not sure since I have a batwing (don't look at a lot of detachable fairings, no need to), but if it doesn't you might have a nice little business idea.

You might run into some issues with wind direction, buffeting etc when changing the angle of attack of the shield. I keep my bars at the same angle as the front fork. Never any problems with the shield.

I added spacers between the windshield and brackets, four in total. Had to buy longer bolts, but the angle stayed the same, the spacers just pushed the windshield further forward so I could keep my apes at the angle I like. I found the spacers at the local swap meet for $0.25 each. I wanted the same bolts that came with the windshield, torx, button head. Had to get them online. Don't always use the windshield, but when I do put it on, I no longer have to adjust my bars.

What kind of spacers are you describing? Actual HD parts? Or just some kind of washers? Do you have a picture?

same idea when we finished my buddy's RK. We prefer ape more forward but it was impossible and he didn't want to cut his windshield on sides...

They are not HD parts. I'll go take a couple of pics.

I think you can get an idea from these photos:

They are chrome and look like they belong. You can find them online: http://www.procycledepot.com/content...s?item=2012884

Just find the size you want. I found them at the local MC swap meet for 25 cents each. These are a little over a half inch long. Moves the windshield forward enough for me. You may want to start out with some washers to find the length that is correct for you, then order that size. You may even be able to find them at your local hardware store.

The second pic, although not really clear, shows the top and bottom spacers on one side. The bottom spacer has a rubber gasket that is curled up around it. The top did not have the gasket. When I was at the swap meet, I grabbed 8 of the spacers, figured my buddy would want to possibly do the same mod. Stupid me didn't make sure they were all the same length, I just grabbed a handful out of the box, turns out one of the eight was a 1/6th of an inch shorter.

Those look good. I might have to go this route for my Springer.

Also, I've ordered spacers like this from www.boltdepot.com

Excellent quality, and when you call with questions, they know what they're talking about.
