I'm having a devil of a time trying to find one that still gives access to the ignition and doesn't block my view of the speedo on my Road King. Currently, I have a Cortech wedge seat bag that sits behind me. I can access it somewhat but not as good as a tankbag.

If someone made a small nylon tank bag that would hold a pair of sunglasses and a smart phone, that would be something useful for a lot if us.....

Here's two that seem especially interesting for these bikes.

The first is the Fieldsheer mini tank bag. This should be able to sit off to the side of the console. Kinda hard to find this bag, most folk are out of stock.

This one is bigger, but seems made to fit. Price is certainly right enough.

This is the one I reference in my previous posting. I have since bought a new one that has a larger, more standard, map pocket. The old one above only has a map window that is about 6 inches wide. The new one below has a map window about 9 inches wide. The one below is a Dowco Tank Bag #50106-00 (you can look it up on Amazon). BTW, I have a Zumo GPS but on long trips I like to have my paper maps in front of me. Helps me get the "big picture" and I like to head off in another direction at times and let the GPS catch up with me!

Cool

Never really needed one on my Street Glide. Never carry more than the saddle bags can hold. Do however use one regularly on my FatBoy. Look at the dealer, that's where I got mine even though it isn't a Harley-Davidson part. Think it came from a company called Daytona Bags ???
Really helps if you can try before you buy. In my case I just grabbed a bunch of bags off the shelf and took them onto the showroom floor, sat on a FatBoy and tried them out.

Used the Cortech bags for several years on metric bikes and liked the bag. Found it real useful for glasses, tire gauges, multitool, small pocket pistols, etc. Have not felt the need to use it on my Ultra since adding a windshield bag and changing out the lower fairings to the magnetic doors. I did pick up a small bag with clear front a few months back to put my Powervision in to do some tuning runs. All these had soft backs with magnets and agree with statements above about keeping tank waxed and bag and tank clean when using them. Theres hundreds of different bags on the market. I've never cared for the large tank bags you sometimes see on sport touring bikes but can see where they might be handy to access stuff on a road trip.

Thanks Jim. I can't swing that one with the Road King. It'll cover my gauges. I'm a paper map guy myself. I got to the same place as you (in your sig) on my Super Glide with nothing but some paper maps and spare fuel

Maybe the day is coming I'll have to give in and look at a GPS. But for me, a paper map is a wonderland. Currently, when I travel I use a grease pencil on the inside of my windshield to note junctions and direction changes. I just update it when I stop for fuel.

I have a GPS but I always carried backup paper maps with me on past long trips. On my Alaska trip in 2010 my Zumo GPS failed (touch screen failure & lockup) when I was travelling between Anchorage and Fairbanks on the Parks Hwy. It was on June 21 and there were no motel rooms available in Fairbanks when I got there (first day of summer and Midnight Sun Festival in Fairbanks that day is a real big deal up there!!). Ended up at a little gold mining lodge in Chatanika north on the Steese Hwy. Lucky I had my tank bag with a paper map & directions to help find it! Used paper maps to get all the way back to the east coast too!

Yep, I don't think either of these tank bags would work on a Road King. The Tbag dedicated tank map bag might work. I believe they make it in three sizes too. One should work on a Road King console.
