IMO it just takes away the clean look of the ride and directs you to look at the deflector.
If I ever install a shield, I want it to just fade away and not look like it is the center of attention.
if you value looks, go with factory look ones, if you want better function, go with the captn itch model. i have a 2011 ultra, so it has the factory shields. i wasnt satisfied with them, so i tried the captn itch model. imho, the captn itch model is better than factory ones and it aint close.

Put the HD ones on last month, so far I am Happy. They can be a bitch to install, I had a 3 inch rachet rench that uses allen heads and that made it alot easier. They right tool at the right time makes all the diff.

i think the captain itch looks way better than the cheap plastic looking HD ones .. they do look better painted to match ..

My 2008 FLHRC has the basket weave embosing on the Leather saddlebags and seat . i got the captain itch crotch cooler with the matching basket weave tooling . it looks great matchs the rest of the leather and it is a real heavy duty well made product .

I agree the capt itch would look better on a roadking, but I think the factory ones have a better look for the SG, Ultra's and RG. And yes it was a royal pain in the rear to install, but its one of the mods that you would never take off once installed. But I'd sure hate to the the frame paint under those tight metal clips though .....

I used a set of Ball End Allen wrenches and didn't have an issue at all installing them on my Street Glide. The first set I bought was Kury and didn't like them.

It all comes down to what works. I've had both the Stock ones that came on my wife's SG Trike and her now 2012 Triglide. I also had them on an earlier 08 Ultra Classic. The stock ones direct the heat under the seat and your seat get's hotter. The Captain Itch Cooler is a solid piece except for the slot that hooks into the seat hook. It keeps a lot of heat off the underside of your seat. It also has a soft backing that won't scratch your side cover's or anything else it may touch. My wife and I have been using Capt. Itch Crotch Cooler's 2 years now. They work!!!

Holy crap, who designed these things? My fingers are too fat to get a good angle on the clip and there's stuff in the way to get to the back side. Ima have to start taking stuff apart.
